Choose The Right Weight Lifting Belts For You

Weight lifters have variety of views about the benefits of weight lifting belt. Some weight lifting trainers think the belt can reduce the strength of the lower back muscles and affect the core strength in general. Some hold the view that it supports your torso. All these views are not authentic and haven’t been witnessed to hold up. Quite contrary, there are number of advantages of wearing a belt. When you are weight lifting with a belt, it increases pressure inside and outside of your spine. It stabilizes your spine and reduces stress on it. Belts help in better performance. With all these benefits, you need to buy a Weight Lifting Belt. Here is a list of few things you have to consider before buying a belt.

1) Material:-

Manufacturers are making these belts either using nylon or leather. Leather belts are recommended for dead lifting and squats. But, leather belts are rough on skin. Nylon belts are suitable for complex movements and power lifters prefer to use them. They don’t harm your skin. However, nylon belts are not as secure as the leather belts are.

2) Locking Mechanism:-

There are two options available in market: hook and pin, and quick release lock. With the hook and pin system, you can tighten your belt as you possibly can. However, if the pin does not fit around your waste, it’s neither comfortable nor will let you focus. The quick release lock overcomes this problem.

3) Width:-

The final factor in choosing the right weight lifting belt is the width. An ideal Width is 2 to 6 inches. The choice varies as per your size and your personal needs. A six inch belt is not beneficial for a shorter person. However, some taller weight lifters prefer to wear two inch belt.

You cannot ignore benefits of a belt for your weight lifting workouts. So always try your workouts while you are wearing a belt.
